Automated backup
Scheduled, monitored backups of servers, endpoints and cloud data. A failed job raises an alert. Not a monthly report nobody reads.

Backups are only worth what they restore. Ours are tested, documented and rehearsed. Downtime becomes an inconvenience rather than a crisis.
Almost every business we audit has backups of some kind. Far fewer can tell us when a restore was last tested, how long a full recovery would take, or who is responsible for starting it. That gap is where the damage happens. The backup job had been failing quietly for months, or it ran perfectly well but restoring everything would take four days the business does not have.
We treat backup as a recovery problem rather than a copying problem. That means agreeing up front how much data you can afford to lose and how long you can afford to be down, then building to those numbers and proving them by actually restoring.

Restores are performed and verified on a schedule. A backup nobody has restored from is an assumption.
A written plan naming what gets recovered, in what order and by whom. Agreed while everyone is calm.
On the Complete tier we run a full disaster-recovery test once a year. Better the plan meets reality before an incident does.
Managed backup with tested restores starts at the Professional tier, £77 per user per month. The Complete tier (£108) adds the annual disaster-recovery test and compliance reporting. Standalone backup for a specific server or dataset can be quoted separately. Server management is £162 per server per month.
Ransomware has changed the calculation here. Modern attacks go for the backups first. So retention lives somewhere the protected environment cannot touch. That is now a default in how we design, not an upgrade.
Backup is one layer of a bigger picture. Cybersecurity covers the controls that reduce the odds of ever needing it, and managed IT support explains how it is bundled.
It depends on how much data you can afford to lose. We agree that number with you first, then set schedules to meet it. For most offices that means at least daily, and more often for live databases or line-of-business systems.
That is the other number we agree in advance. A deleted file takes minutes. Rebuilding a failed server takes considerably longer, and how much longer depends entirely on how that server was put together in the first place. The point of the annual DR test is to replace estimates with a measured figure.
Yes, and we recommend it. Microsoft protects the platform. Your content is your problem, whether it goes because somebody deleted it, an account was compromised, or an employee left in a hurry. Native retention is not a backup.
Backups are isolated from the protected environment so that encrypting your live systems does not reach your recovery copies. We also verify restores regularly, because a corrupted backup discovered mid-incident is the worst possible time to find out.
Managed backup with tested restores starts at the Professional tier. Essential covers monitoring, patching and antivirus, but not managed backup. If backup matters to you, and it should, Professional is the realistic starting point.
